Sanding an edge square
1 - Use the try square to
ensure the "protractor" is perpendicular to the "sanding guide".
2 - Hold the
timber to be sanded firmly against the "protractor", the edge just short of
the "sanding guide".
3 - Place the "sanding block" against the "sanding guide" and push the timber
along to make contact.
4 - Always keep the "sanding block" pressed firmly against the "Sander's" base.
5 - Move the "sanding block" forwards and backwards to sand the part.
6 - Frequently check progress to ensure too much timber is not removed!

1 - When sanding an edge at an angle, the distance from the end of the protractor to the sanding guide becomes excessive. |
  | 2 - Only use it in this position for timber 1/8" (3 mm) or greater thick. |
  | 3 - For thinner timber use a support that is at least 1/8" (3 mm) thick. |
Sanding an angle
When sanding the ends of thin strips of timber it is necessary to use a backing strip that is at least 1/8" (3 mm) thick. | ![]() |
This is particularly important when sanding an edge at an angle. |   |
